Tips for a Smooth Deck License Renewal Application Process
Which forms do I need to submit for my Deck License Renewal?
You will need to submit the following forms if you are renewing your current Deck level captain's license:
- Complete the USCG License Renewal Application (Form CG-719B)
- Have a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC Card)
- Pass a Physical Examination (Form CG-719K)
- Pass a DOT Drug Test (Form CG-719P)
- If you are currently enrolled in a DOT-approved random drug testing program, you will not be required to take a new drug test for license renewal
- Submit 360 days of boating experience within the last 5 years on CG-719S or completion of the Mariners Learning System's Deck License Renewal in lieu of boating experience
You do not need to submit a CPR/First Aid card to renew your license, but you must have a current one when working with your license.
We recommend submitting a copy of your current credentials, too; this will make it easier for the Coast Guard to review your packet.
